Pumpkin Carving

Last Sunday some of the Husseys came over to carve pumpkins with us. From left to right in this picture: Michelle's happy face, Joe's Seattle skyline, Janice's spider, Kyle & Sophia's scary face, my haunted mansion, Sophia's little happy face, and very dim on the far right is my Mickey Mouse.

Griffin and His Tongue at 6 Months Old

Pumpkin Patch '09

Last Thursday we had a field trip to Hunter's Pumpkin Patch with Sophia's preschool. It was a little chaotic, but a lot of fun.

This last picture is Sophia and her friend Wyatt. She is convinced that his name is actually "Quiet" so I had to ask him to be in the picture with her. :o)

Cake Details

Well, I started to organize the office, but somehow always end up here on the computer doing pictures and blogging... I thought I would share the whole process for Abby's cake...
First the inspiration. This is the bedding that Kimberly chose for Abby's room. The walls were already light blue, and Kimberly always loves vintage, antique-y stuff. Soooo cute.

Here are some closeup shots of the bedding.

This was my original plan, but I later decided to do the base layer pink because Kimberly's favorite frosting is cherry.

Then I bought a few new decorating tips and tried to remember how to make flowers. I made them out of royal icing so that they could be prepared the week before the shower. I made one batch of royal icing and it went a looooong way!

I made the cakes on Thursday, refrigerated them overnight, and decorated all day Friday. Luckily, I have very well behaved kids! It turned out great. Not as perfect as the picture in my mind, but I'm still pretty proud.
Then for the MOST stressful part. Packing it up and transporting it to Woodinville, a 2+ hour drive!! We made it without any problems! (Well, besides me missing the exit and having to turn around and adding 1/2 hour on to the drive. Griffin slept pretty much the whole drive, so I'm glad he didn't add to my stress level!)

First Haircut

And No - I am not talking about Griffin. (Although I'm sure his will be in a couple months.) Sophia Rose had her first trim at 3 1/2 years old. The ends were getting a little too tangly. It was hard to cut off the little ringlet parts of her hair, but it turned out pretty cute. Just a little off the back...

I'll post another pic after it dries and I fix it.

Fall is Here!

My favorite part of fall is decorating the house and lighting all my yummy smelling candles. Sophia helped me sort through and put up all the Halloween decor this weekend. I also sewed her Candy Corn Halloween costume, and made sure the Tootsie Roll costume fit Griffin. Sophia loved playing in her witch costume from 2 years ago, but the hat was a little small so she had Griffin wear it all day.

Before I finished the bubble hem...

A little snug around the cheeks!
Well, it's pretty good for my 1st attempt at using a pattern.
I had no idea what I was doing, but it turned out
pretty cute from a distance!

Miscellaneous Pics

This is the cake I made for Kimberly's baby shower.
We are expecting Abby to arrive this December!

This is how Griffin takes naps on Daddy's watch...

Mommy's Ballet Costumes

I finally went out to my mom's house to get all of my old ballet costumes. There are a lot of them! Sophia can fit in a few of the smallest ones. She loves them!

Bluebird Lion
Seaflower
This was a pie maid costume

My very first one was a little purple glittery butterfly costume when I was 4. Sophia loves it! But I guess we forgot to get a picture of that one... We must have been too busy dancing. :o)
