June Catch-Up

June came and went in a flash!  Here are some pictures of some of the fun we had.

These pictures are at the park in Tenino - the kids like to explore the big giant quarry rocks after they're tired of playing on the toys.

The first part of June we celebrated Sarah's graduation.  I made her cake and we had a fun day hanging out and meeting some of her friends.  (Sarah is Kyle's cousin.)

Mid-June we headed to the zoo for Sophia's end-of-year field trip.  Kyle decided to take the day off and bring up Griffin so we could make it a family day as well.

Sophia is still LOVING birds - her favorite exhibit at the zoo are the parakeets/budgie birds.

Somehow I got volunteered to take the kids on a camel ride...  Um, ouch.

Sharks!  My favorites!  The kids are also just as amazed by these animals as I am.  We could sit and watch forever.

And here is our little school girl going to her last day of kindergarten.  It went pretty quick!

Say Cheese!  The kids joined the kids club at the little Tenino Grocery store and each received a coupon for a free cake for their birthdays.  We finally got around to going to get those and they were pretty excited about it.  They both agreed that mom's cakes were better, though. :o)

Well that about wraps up our month of June.  We've already done lots more this July.  Hoping to get to those pictures and posts soon.

Sophia's Ballet Recital - June 2012

Our little dancer performed perfectly for us this year at her recital. :o)  She had a lot of fun on stage dancing with her friends.  She is still going to Studio West in west Olympia, and Ms. M.C. is still her teacher.  Sophia started with baby ballet at 2 years old, progressed into Discover Dance, and now just this summer (since she's 6) started Pre-Ballet.  She loves it and that makes me so happy.  Here are some pictures from her recital and rehearsals in June.  Enjoy!

May 2012 - Sophia Turns 6!

May 9th we celebrated Kyle's birthday.  The kids were excited to decorate his cake.  Sophia piped on a truck and a person as well as a border on top and added lots of sprinkles.  Griffin piped on lots of "snakes" and dumped on some more sprinkles.  They had fun making Dad's cake so special.

May 29th was Sophia's 6th birthday.  We had her party on Memorial Day - it was a bird theme, of course.  She's been completely infatuated with birds all year.  I let her plan almost all of her party decorations this year.  She had a lot of fun with it.

She wanted a jungle cake with a waterfall so that she could place all her toy birds all over it.  I also let her add fresh flowers all over it (which saved me lots of decorating time).

Kimberly had stayed the night before the party and was a great help.  She thought of putting all the party favors in the bird cage Sophia keeps in her room.

Here's the big birthday girl excited to blow out the candles!

Here's little baby cousin Ty enjoying himself at the party.  Soooo cute!

The day of her birthday was a school day, so Griffin and I brought some cupcakes in at party time.  He loves Kindergarten. :o)  He's signed up for preschool next fall and is really looking forward to it.  We've got some more potty training to do this summer, but he's doing really well with that also.  Sophia's friends were all soooo excited about her cupcakes (that I made) and lots of the kids mentioned that they were the best ones all year!  We put a topper on each cupcake that was a bird sticker for each kid to keep.  They loved it and it was so simple!

Sophia had another spectacular birthday and received tons of cute clothes (most with birds on them) and some really fun games and great gift cards.  Thank you so much to those who came and helped make her feel so loved and special and spoiled.  Can't believe my baby girl is six!!

A Busy April - Part 2

As promised - here's more of our fun month of April...  Easter was the day after Griffin's birthday.  Pretty exciting weekend for the kids.  Lots of treats involved!

Yum - chocolate!!

After church we decided to go for a visit to see baby Nina (and Kora), who was in the hospital under the special lights to help with her jaundice.  It was such a beautiful day we took the chevelle out.  The kids love riding in the race car!
After the hospital visit we headed to Hearthfire for a yummy Easter lunch with the Hussey crowd.  After that, our little family of four took a walk along the water downtown Oly.  The kids played at the park at Percival landing.  It was so lovely and gorgeous - a perfect day!

Later that week, Kyle got the phone call he'd been waiting for for months and months... His new boat was ready for him to pick up!  He's so excited about this new boat and big motor!

I don't know who had more fun - Kyle or his Dad.  They were in heaven!  Fastest boat on the lake...

That same day we got the boat, Sophia and I had tickets to go see the Cinderella ballet that our studio put on.  It was a great show, and such a fun treat to get some special alone time with my big girl.  She's so grown up these days, but we don't get a lot of time to do special big girl things as often as I'd like.  It really was a nice time for both of us.

Here are a couple more cute pictures.
Griffin gets so busy working sometimes - just no time to play at all. :o)

Here we are taking full advantage of one of our hottest days in April ever!  So gorgeous.  We had the water table out, the kids ran through the sprinkler, and of course we had to have some ice cream cones!

I think I'll stop here and do one more post to finish out the month... Later, of course.  :o)  Have a great day!

A Busy April - Part 1

To start the month off  we welcomed a new cousin for the kids!  These five cousins were so excited to meet the newest one - little Nina Christine.  What a doll!
 Sophia 5 1/2 yrs, Baby Ty 4 1/2 mos, Griffin almost 3,
Abigail 2 1/2 yrs, Baby Don 10 1/2 mos
 Nina - 1 day  :o)

A few days later it was time to celebrate my little man's 3rd birthday!  Griffin wanted to have a race car theme this year, and his favorite color is green - so this is what we came up with...

Oh the excitement of all the new gifts and all the family and friends that came to celebrate!  Little cousin Abby was having a great time, too!

 Time to make a wish!

Well, I think his wish came true.  Uncle Monty was in the mood to get outside and take a chainsaw to some of our fallen branches, so Daddy and Griffin got the tractor out and went to work too.  This boy loves to be a workin' man.  He had to get his work gloves, hard hat, and saw.

The rest of us took advantage of the beautiful weather and also went outside.  It was so fun and relaxing!

The little workin' man finally had to take a snack break...

Baby Don needed a little snack too!  Such a big boy himself these days!

It was a really fun party.  Thank you to everyone who came and gave Griffin such fun gifts.  He has been very busy the last few weeks playing with everything.  Hopefully I'll get around to posting part 2 of this April post tomorrow night...
