A Nap in the Big Girl Room

The Big-Girl Room downstairs is far from finished, but we did finally get the mattresses in there last night. Yay! So I figured she better get comfortable sleeping down there as soon as possible. We tried it out today and I didn't think she would really fall asleep since lately she chooses not to sleep while it's nap time in the crib about 75% of the time - but she did! So I waited about an hour and snuck in to take a picture of her sleeping and she, of course, opened her eyes and fussed a little. But she quieted back down and is still finishing her nap. I'm so excited. I think tonight I'll give her the option of her crib or the big-girl bed downstairs. I don't want to push my luck, though.

As you can see in the picture the walls are still white - they will be painted light green hopefully very soon. The upholstered headboard is a very light pink, but taller than I want. So we will need to saw off the posts to make it shorter. And I still need to buy a plain light pink duvet cover and a white dust ruffle for the bed. I have already purchased about 5 or 6 sets of sheets with really fun prints so that I can just change the sheets all the time and keep the duvet plain. The furniture in the room and the frames to go on the wall are all white. I'm really excited to get it done! Then I can start in on the nursery... And then get the rest of the house organized... I think I may have reached my nesting stage!

Since I haven't mentioned it in a while, the pregnancy is going great. I'm almost 7 months along now. Baby Boy is moving and poking around a lot throughout the day. I think, though, that Sophia's pretty tired of hearing about this so called baby brother. It's a long wait for a 2 year old.

Not Soon Enough!

Now that Christmas is over, all Kyle and I can think about is Florida! We fly out January 23rd. We are trying to figure out what we want to do while there. Our resort has a huge swim park and playgrounds and paddle boats, but we would like to drive out to the beach at least for one day. We're still going back and forth on whether or not we should do any of the Disney Parks this trip. It's so nice to just relax by the pool!

A Very Merry Christmas

We started our Christmas celebration on Christmas Eve at Justin & Jill's House.

Christmas morning we opened our stockings and gifts from Santa and each other.

Then we headed over to the Hussey celebration.
For those of you who don't know Kyle's family very well, here are all the siblings. On the left is "baby" Joe, then Kim (the twin), Michelle (the oldest), Kora (my age), Kyle, and Marisa (front and center).
You can see the rest of our pictures through Kodak by clicking on my album labeled Christmas & New Years 2008. It really was a fun time and didn't feel rushed or anything this year. I was very, very spoiled! Kyle & Deniece gave me some really great pans from Pampered Chef (long awaited!), Don drew my name this year and went completely overboard with an awesome, awesome, awesome new camera and all the accessories, and my dad gave us a pretty good chunk of change! I also have quite a few massages coming my way! Sophia was excited to receive some new Thomas the Train toys and books, and her own digital camera, along with lots of other goodies. Kyle wasn't left out in the cold either, he'll get a massage with me and he got a few man-things, and then the big one for the three of us is, of course, our Florida vacation in January.

I hope everyone else's Christmas was merry and bright like ours.

Sledding

Justin brought Carson & Lauren over on Monday to try out our slopes. Our property is perfect for little kids to sled! The girls had a blast, and I think the Daddies did, too. Carson and I had fun together just playing with some toys in the snow and throwing snowballs. He's not real hot on sledding yet. He did do one little run in the driveway, and then he was done. Sophia, of course, is pretty cautious, but she surprised me by going down by herself once or twice. Lauren is quite the little daredevil, like her daddy, and wanted to go by herself on her tummy, face first. She loved it!

Nutcracker '08

Sunday evening we took Sophia and Lauren to the Nutcracker in Centralia. It was a very entertaining ride into town just listening to them chatting with each other and being goofy. At one point they started having a singing contest to Frosty the Snowman. The lyrics they both came up with were hilarious. Kyle and I laughed to ourselves the whole drive.

After we arrived at the theater, they each got a new crown and a cookie.

When the show began, one of the dancers entered through the theater and handed each of them a little Nutcracker doll out of his top hat. They were so excited and watched the first half of the show very attentively. By the second half, though, they couldn't take it anymore and both just had to get up and dance to the music. Luckily our seats did not have a row directly in front of us, so they had their own little stage. Again, they made us laugh to ourselves the whole time by being so silly and doing their serious ballet moves and hugging each other and all so quietly so they didn't get in trouble. It was a lot of fun, and I'm excited to do it again next year.

It's So Much Fun To Have A Girl!

I still can't quit laughing right now because Sophia looks so hilarious! I'll let the pictures speak for themselves.

Have a great day everyone!

Snowed In

Sophia and I have been snowed in for two days now. Yesterday she made her first gingerbread house. She had a fun time getting very messy. I've been getting a lot of little things organized and some laundry and cleaning done. We finished decorating the tree too, but I don't think I like our new lights and I might change them if I get the urge tonight or tomorrow. Kyle didn't work yesterday, so he & Sophia built a snowman and played in the snow for a while. He did go to work today and it was horrible for him. So hopefully tomorrow he can stay home and skip his loads.

Let it Snow!

What a fun weekend! After all the Santa visits on Saturday we went to church that evening so we were able to wake up Sunday and go straight out to play in the snow. Sophia and Daddy built a cute snowman and had a couple rides on the sled, then we finally went and cut down our Christmas tree. (A little later than usual this year, oh well.) After the tree was up in the house we headed up to our ballet studio in Olympia and watched their Winter Wonderland performance. It was cute, and we all had a great time.

Christmas Cookie Party

For the past three years, my Aunt Carol & Uncle Des have hosted a Christmas Cookie Party for my Dad's side of the family at their home in Port Orchard. It's always nice to see my Grandma Rotter, my aunts, uncles, and cousins and their children. Santa always makes a stop and delivers a toy to each of the kids. This year Santa was really great with a real white beard and all! On the way up to the party, we stopped off at Tacoma Mall to get Sophs' picture with Santa at Nordstrom's. The Santa at Auntie Carol's was actually much nicer looking!

Here is the Nordstom's Santa.
Sophia told him that she would like Percy the
Train and that she had been a nice girl.

All the kiddies anxiously awaiting their turn for a gift.

Funny Pictures and Video of Sophs

The weekend after Thanksgiving we went to play at Auntie Kora's house. Sophia was pretending to make cookies for everyone with her Play-Doh. So Aunt Kora, being such the fun auntie that she is, found an Easy Bake Oven for Sophia to use... I love it!

Here she is making Papa Dan's birthday cake - well, I guess cleaning up after making it.
We had the carpets cleaned a little over a week ago and Sophia was in heaven with no furniture in her way!

A Little Cowboy Room

Well, as many of you may know - for some reason, I am quite picky about things. So for the last month, and specifically the last 4 days during nap time (very valuable time for those of us with toddlers...), I have been scouring the Internet trying to find the perfect little cowboy bedding. I found a lot of cute ideas of HGTV.com, but not a specific bed set that I liked that much. So then on to fabric browsing... Needless to say I'm about blind from staring at the screen, BUT I found some very cute fabrics and ordered them today! I will make a blanket, window valance, crib skirt and bumper. Hopefully I don't mess it all up! As far as accessories go - I don't want it over the top. But Sophia's red boots that are now too small and red cowboy hat, and the little brown plush rocking horse she's grown out of are a good start.
